Unless you belong to the fortunate 15% of individuals who consistently experience a state of happiness and self-actualization, it's likely that you, like many others, occasionally struggle with feelings of inadequacy or diminished self-worth. These issues with self-confidence won't resolve themselves; addressing them requires honesty about our challenges and possibly seeking guidance to navigate the complexities of our thoughts.
A common saying rings true: "What you put in is what you get out." This highlights the importance of the beliefs we hold.
A Research-Backed Approach to Boosting Self-Esteem
While numerous strategies exist to tackle low self-esteem, the key often lies in one fundamental concept: belief. Neuroscientist Stephen Campbell emphasizes that our internal critics struggle to differentiate between reality and fiction. According to him, the brain believes whatever we tell it without question.
This understanding is crucial, as it underscores the necessity of evaluating our beliefs. Unfortunately, many of these beliefs are inaccurate, often stemming from criticism received throughout our lives—from parents, teachers, or bosses.
