During my college years, I experienced an alarming event that shaped my perspective on sharing my art. One day, while heading to the Fine Arts building, I was unexpectedly assaulted by two teenage boys. Despite my background in Taekwondo, I was taken aback, struggling to comprehend why they targeted me.
It became clear that I was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time; they weren’t looking to rob me, just to unleash their aggression on someone. After sustaining a few hits, one of them hurled a garbage can at me, which provided them the distraction they needed to flee.
With a bleeding nose and a heavy heart, I reported the incident to my dean, who offered assistance and support. This encounter left me feeling both furious and humiliated, leading me to ponder the motivations of those boys.
This experience revealed an essential truth: our significance is often exaggerated in our own minds.
Section 1.1: The Art of Sharing
The world of art and writing can be daunting. When we share our work, we open ourselves up to criticism and rejection. However, the pain of negative feedback pales in comparison to physical harm.
What if you hesitate to share a personal story due to fear of judgment? The truth is, exposing your vulnerability can foster deeper connections with others. Just as those teenagers viewed me as inconsequential, many people are preoccupied with their own lives, making them less critical of your work than you might think.

The chance to create and share is more valuable than the number of views or likes. Even if your work fades from memory, the impact you have on someone’s life today is what truly matters.
