Chapter 1: The Challenge Begins

Feeling dissatisfied with my body and overall well-being, I decided to embark on a significant challenge: transforming my health by focusing solely on eggs, apples, bananas, and a few other low-calorie options for 30 days. It was a daunting task, akin to climbing a mountain during a snowstorm.

Initially, I found the shift difficult, especially after indulging in a more substantial diet. However, I realized this change was essential for reclaiming my health and achieving the physique I’ve always desired.

After stepping back from my academic pursuits last year, I found myself in a rut post-holiday season, having gained weight and neglected my fitness routine for seven months. At nearly 89 kg, I was struggling with stubborn fat and alarming cholesterol levels.

My self-image took a hit; I dreaded looking in the mirror, felt fatigued easily, and lacked the energy I once possessed. Recognizing the impact of my neglect, I decided last month to prioritize my health by returning to the gym with renewed vigor. Although consulting a nutritionist would have been wise, I impulsively committed to this extreme diet of eggs, apples, bananas, salads, and grains—a decision that pushed my body to its limits in the quest for weight loss.

To achieve my goals, I focused on consuming high-protein, low-carb meals. Where I once devoured three slices of bread for breakfast, I now limit myself to one slice of whole grain, a piece of watermelon, and four boiled eggs. Resisting the temptation to overeat is challenging, yet I remain steadfast in my commitment to this diet.

At the gym, I engage in an hour of strength training followed by thirty minutes of cardio on the treadmill. Each evening, my partner and I take a 5-kilometer walk, and my dinner consists of sliced apples and a protein shake with banana.

While the initial routine was grueling, it gradually became more manageable. During the first week, I contemplated giving up multiple times, but thoughts of where I wanted to be motivated me to keep going.

The most challenging aspect of returning to the gym after a seven-month hiatus was the muscle soreness. I had lost much of my previous strength, forcing me to begin with lighter weights, and every new exercise reminded me of the effort required to reshape my body.

It was a demanding thirty-one days. Thankfully, my partner provided unwavering support, helping me resist temptations like ordering pizza and encouraging me during tough moments.

I recognize that my diet was severely restrictive, but I needed to see quick results. I was ashamed to look in the mirror, self-conscious about going to the beach, and even hesitant to be intimate with my wife. However, during this month, I successfully reduced my weight from 89 kg to 81 kg.

While I'm not entirely satisfied with my progress, I am encouraged by the changes in my body. Previously, I weighed 97 kg, but I had muscle definition and a flatter stomach. Now, my goal is to eliminate excess fat and gradually return to my former self—the body I’ve always desired.

Ultimately, I view this as a personal triumph. Throughout this month, I found the courage to face my reflection, proving that if you have a goal, you can achieve it! Although it took time to take that first step, I am grateful for the progress I made. My journey doesn't end here; I’m committed to maintaining my gym routine.
