Submitting Your Expertise to the Software Testing Pipeline

Chapter 1: Introduction to Article Submissions
Are you interested in contributing to The Software Testing Pipeline? We are excited to welcome both seasoned writers and newcomers to our platform.
Section 1.1: Submission Guidelines
We accept a variety of articles related to software testing, software development, quality assurance, artificial intelligence, machine learning, career guidance, industry updates, cyber security, and more. While we do accept previously published content, we encourage new submissions. Articles that have been published elsewhere may not feature in the ‘Latest’ category of our newsletters or on our homepage, which might limit their visibility. That said, previously shared articles have often seen significant traffic increases once included in our publication.
To enhance your writing, consider using Grammarly, which offers free plans. Regardless of your writing proficiency, it's always beneficial to have a tool to help catch minor errors.
In-depth technical pieces tend to attract the most interest; however, we are also keen on articles that explore the soft skills associated with software testing and general career advice.
Subsection 1.1.1: Formatting Your Article
For optimal readability, we recommend formatting your articles similarly to Medium posts. Even in a technical publication, it’s essential to structure articles in a way that allows for easy skimming. Utilize headings, bullet points, and images to break up large blocks of text. For additional guidance, Casey Botticello has written an excellent article on formatting for Medium.
Section 1.2: Steps to Submit Your Article
So, how do you go about submitting your articles to The Software Testing Pipeline?
- Become a Writer: Start by commenting on our call for writers on Medium. We aim to add new contributors within 24 hours, though we appreciate your patience.
- Craft Your Article: Keep your target audience in mind and aim to deliver engaging content. The internet is saturated with vague articles; we strive to provide genuine value to our readers.
- Add Your Article to the Publication: If your article is fresh, please add it to our publication before hitting publish. Articles perform better when submitted directly to the publication rather than added post-publication.
To do this, open your article in the Medium editor. Click on the three dots in the top right corner, then select ‘Add to publication.’
From the list of publications you author, select ‘The Software Testing Pipeline’ and click ‘Select and continue.’
- Include Relevant Tags: Click on the three dots again and choose ‘Change topics.’ Here, you can add up to five relevant tags for your article. Popular tags for our publication include:
- software testing
- technology
- quality assurance
- careers
- Submit Your Article: Finally, click on ‘Submit.’ Your article will be sent to our team for scheduling. If we don’t schedule it immediately, we’ll leave a comment informing you when it will be published.
Congratulations! You’ve successfully submitted your first article to our publication.
