Chapter 1: My Writing Journey
Over the span of 4.5 years, I've dedicated 1736 days and authored 292 articles, accumulating over 2,000 hours of writing practice. Here are 11 insights I wish I'd discovered earlier in my writing career.
Section 1.1: Embrace the Process
Write Freely, Edit Later:
I don’t indulge in alcohol, but I approach my writing with a carefree mindset. I allow my thoughts to flow onto the page without filtering. It’s important to get everything out, even if it seems chaotic or disconnected. The editing can come later when I’m in a clearer state of mind.
One Focus at a Time:
Each article addresses a singular issue, emphasizing one story, one lesson, and one key takeaway. Avoid overwhelming yourself by trying to cover too much in a single piece.
Draw Inspiration from Everyday Life:
My daily encounters fuel my writing. Whether it's a train ride or a dinner with friends, I find stories in the mundane. My approach is observational, and I seek lessons in my experiences. You’ll be amazed by how much life offers to write about.

Section 1.2: Consuming and Creating
Engage with Relevant Content:
I immerse myself in self-improvement and business materials—podcasts, books, and videos. These resources serve as inspiration, fueling my creativity and providing fresh ideas.
Nurture Your Idea Pool:
I maintain a continuous stream of ideas by brainstorming ten article titles daily and outlining one to three articles. This practice keeps my creativity flowing and ensures I’m never at a loss for topics.
Learn from the Best:
I study talented writers online, not to copy, but to understand their techniques. I take their concepts and reframe them through my unique perspective, creating something original in the process.
Chapter 2: Writing Anywhere, Anytime

Write in Any Environment:
I’ve trained myself to write regardless of my surroundings—whether on public transport or while waiting in line. I utilize my Notion app to capture ideas on my phone, iPad, or laptop, seizing every opportunity to write.
Collect and Utilize Stories:
Stories are integral to my writing. I gather them from personal experiences, observations of others, and lessons from literature. Each encounter offers potential narratives to enrich my work.
Acknowledge Your Limits:
I’m candid about my knowledge gaps. I avoid discussing controversial topics where I lack expertise and focus on subjects I’m passionate about and comfortable with.
Apply Parkinson’s Law:
I’ve realized that writing often fills the time allotted to it. By setting a timer, I can produce an article in under 45 minutes under pressure. It may not be perfect, but it’s a draft I can refine later.
Aim for Daily Improvement:
I strive for incremental progress each day. By analyzing feedback and observing other writers, I continually evolve my craft. The key takeaway? Consistency trumps talent. Many more gifted writers quit early; persistence is crucial.
