The Essential Question We Keep Overlooking: Three Responses

Written on

Chapter 1: The Question We Overlook

There have been moments in my life—some disturbingly recent—when I wake up thinking, “Oh great, I'm still here.” This sentiment resonates with those who find humor in life's absurdities, echoing Squidward’s dry wit: “Too bad that didn’t kill me.”

While older generations often feel they have much to live for, their worldview has been confined to their possessions: my spouse, my children, my home. Their understanding of love revolves around a mindset of "us against them."

This raises an important issue that many overlook: people of all ages perceive threats everywhere and anticipate the worst from life. Even in times of “normalcy” or “stability,” fear is pervasive. This leads us to a critical inquiry…

Why should we even consider saving our world?

The planet is drowning in conflict and chaos. Solutions are available, as they always have been. Yet, without a clear answer to this question, no proposed solution will resonate; few will listen, and even fewer will take action.

Fortunately, my restless mind is preoccupied with inquiries. This peculiar gift has provided me with potential answers that inspire hope instead of dread. If these insights offer you the same encouragement, I would love for you to share them!

Section 1.1: Preserve the Stories

Art parallels science; like the latter, its practitioners build upon what came before. Spielberg wouldn’t exist without Shakespeare, but Shakespeare couldn’t create Jaws. Likewise, Spielberg could never replicate the excitement of Horikoshi, even though neither captivates us quite like interactive narratives.

From films and theater to animation and games, our world is overflowing with stories. While some narratives may not be compelling, many shine brilliantly. Every generation, we witness increasingly remarkable tales. Just think of what we've experienced so far—imagine what marvels lie ahead!

History's most creative souls are currently crafting new worlds. Most of us are still young, and few belong to corporate families. If we can harness our collective will to bring these stories to life, we may ignite a new Renaissance.

The first video discusses why we sometimes forget words while speaking and offers strategies for overcoming this challenge. It's a fascinating exploration of communication.

Section 1.2: Advance the Science

Once, the idea that humans could fly seemed ludicrous. Now, flying is commonplace, and we often wish to avoid it. Similarly, it was once unimaginable to hear a voice from someone who is absent, yet today we connect with the dead and distant almost daily.

Although science was my least favorite subject in school, I follow those who dedicate themselves to it. They envision a future filled with breakthroughs that even Einstein couldn't conceive—asteroid mining, food replication, and remedies for aging are no longer distant dreams.

The most knowledgeable minds in history are thriving in our time. Most of us are young, and few belong to corporate families. If we can collectively direct our will towards holistic studies, we can foster a flourishing Creation.

Chapter 2: Cultivating Solace

Those suffering from local injustices have historically been isolated in their struggles. However, in 2020, these solitary battles gained global momentum. Millions rallied for those they would never meet, raising their voices against the cruel who prosper from turmoil.

The spirit of solidarity embodied in this movement flourishes in our age of interconnectedness. We can empathize with anyone, anywhere, at any time. These connections serve as a powerful antidote to the predatory forces among us.

The most compassionate individuals are joining together right now. We are a diverse community, yet corporate interests often divide us. If we can unify our collective will to reclaim our power, the rewards will benefit us all.

The second video features Anne Wilson's "Sunday Sermons," an official music video that celebrates themes of community and resilience, resonating with our shared struggles.

We Are Worth Saving

I hope these reflections inspire you to recognize that you, your loved ones, and even many of those you dislike, are all worth saving. We have far more allies than adversaries. Once we understand this, we can step into history as the generation that healed the planet.

Life’s hardships are not an inevitable reality; they are a consequence of the order we've allowed. We have the choice to focus on the light that lies ahead. The future before us is so radiant that it blinds many.

However, if we are to reach that future, we must commit to saving our world.
